Position: Vice President, Finance
Langley Flying School was founded in the fall of 1994. The School received its Flight Training Operating Certificate from Transport Canada on January 17th, 1995, and it has since grown to its current size. Langley Flying School has conducted over 100,000 hours of flight training and has graduated thousands private and professional pilots all over the world. Langley Flying School provides training for Private Pilots and Commercial Pilots, as well as pilots qualified with the advance Multi-engine Ratings, Instrument Ratings, and Instructor Ratings.
With continued business expansion, we are seeking for a forward-thinking professional and driven Vice President, Finance to add value to our growing organization. The VP, Finance must be an expert in setting financial targets and devising strategies to ensure the financial health and sustainable growth of the organization.
Major duties:
Formulating and developing the company’s strategic plan and financial model, identifying opportunities for growth and profitability, and developing strategies to achieve these goals
Supporting the development of required talent and priorities for the organization, and establishing the key performance metrics as the organization continues on its aggressive growth agenda.
Establishing financial controls by leading the school’s core financial process including annual plans, quarterly and monthly forecasts.
Responsible for managing financial risks associated with the training school’s operations. This would include identifying and mitigating financial risks, such as credit risk, market risk, and operational risk.
Guiding financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing accounting policies and procedures
Restructuring the functional departments of the school to maximize management efficiency and productivity, including approval of human resources planning
Allocating material and financial resources to implement organizational policies and ensuring the successful completion of the school’s prioritized projects, such as aircraft purchase, accommodation building construction, etc.
Leading the annual budgeting process with all department leaders and review variances on a regular basis – ensuring all areas of the business are making bottom line driven decisions
Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, financial laws, and regulations, internal financial controls and procedures
Designing and executing of the company’s investor relations strategy and plan to recruit and manage investors
Performing all other related financial and accounting-related management duties as required
Job Requirements:
Batchelor in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related field
At least 5 years of experience in a senior position with strong background in financial management
Must be a highly skilled financial leader with demonstrated track record of success
Demonstrated project and budget management skills
Strong business acumen with a broad understanding of fundamental business principles
Analytical problem-solving skills with an impeccable attention to detail
Ability to set overall strategy and drive process improvement
Able to think creatively and strategically
Able to overcome obstacles to cooperation and to foster harmonious relations
